Lace edging, one final dishcloth,
multiple microwave bowls, matching hot pads and a partridge in a pear
tree. That is what is ahead for me
during the last days before Christmas. I
just threw in the partridge to see if you were singing along with me. I feel like I’m rushing and slightly stressed
but I really do have it covered.
We also have three birthdays to get through before Christmas. Sweet son-in-law, nurse/photographer son, and fireman son’s birthdays all in one week. Preparation for the birthday dinner tonight included two dozen shortbread cookies and two loaves of Italian bread to go with spaghetti and meatballs. Now—I can focus on what is left of Christmas preparations.
Does something extra seem to pop up
during your Christmas preparations? Plumbing
problems? Heating and air conditioning
problems? Appliance breakdowns? We experience that weird phenomenon almost every
year. This year it was the great bed
disaster. I have not been sleeping well
and lately our beloved Sleep Number bed has felt like a bag of rocks to
me. We decided to try adding a topper on
the inside of the padded cover. When we
opened the zip top the inside around the cells was covered with black
mold. It seems that is a problem with
Sleep Number beds. We were warned about
it when we purchased the bed and have checked it at times over the years. This time—gangbusters!!
I immediately ordered a Perfect Cloud
gel foam mattress to go on our platform foundation and we wrangled it into
place after dismantling the old bed.
Bye, bye Sleep Number, hello heaven.
I feel 20 years younger and have no aches, pains, or joint stiffness as
I did BNB (before new bed). Top that off
with the fact that we are both sleeping like bears hibernating, and I think we
have a winner. I love a good success
story.
The lace edging for the hand towel
gift is one inch away from being ready to attach to the towel. I like the way it is turning out and hope it
is used with love for as long as the first one has been used.
The microwave bowls have been matched
with hot pads and filled with shortbread cookies. Here are two more ready for bias edging.
If I keep my nose to the grindstone I can
finish 10 of them before Christmas.
Isn’t this a fun time of year?
Life is good.
