Things went horribly wrong with the
baby blanket—at least it seemed that way to me at the moment when I was curled
in the fetal position on the floor, sobbing “Oh dear, oh dear. I had dropped two stitches 22 rows back in a
lace section, which refused to ladder up as any sort of design element. I couldn’t just tie them off and weave in the
ends, which is what I might have done if it had been a project for me. I couldn’t risk the ends coming apart during
the multiple washings that any baby blanket goes through. I knew from the moment I noticed them that
ripping back would be the only way.
SO--I installed a lifeline two rows
back of the dropped stitches and began frogging. At least I was able to rewind the yarn and
use it again. It took Friday evening,
Saturday afternoon and about an hour Sunday afternoon to get back to where I
had been when those dratted little stitches popped up. I think I will finish on time—by the middle
of July. I’m trying. If not, “Hey baby it IS coming. I promise.”
Oh dear, oh dear where does the time go? Every time I look at our grandchildren it
seems like 20 years have flown by. It
may only be a few days or weeks but there seems to be years of learning and
growth and development happening before my eyes! Sweet Samantha, who is enjoying her recovery
and new found good health, decided she could produce a “proper" (her word)
birthday cake for her Grandpa. This was
the result.
All that beauty and it was yummy good
too! Her uncles offered to set her up in
her own bakery business.
Then there is great-granddaughter Adelyn who
continues to try on her mom’s wedding dress.
I hope she keeps trying it on right up to the day she wears it at her
own wedding. Of course, if she chooses
to wear a dress of her choice that’s okay too as long as I am there to see it.
Oh dear, oh dear, the pups are
getting bored. Time to take them for a
walk or drag out the toys. You don’t
want to know what happens when these two get bored!
Life is good.

Yikes, dropped stitches are maddening! Frogging is sometimes THE only solution.
Love the cake and delighted to hear that Samantha is doing so well. The little bride is adorable in the gown, and the photo is priceless.
Oh dear.. BUT you frogged successfully and you did the oNly right thing to do. What is that delicious pink yarn?
Addy is adorable in that dress. Hooray for Samantha. what a cake! ! What a wonderful gift for her Grandpa.
kisses to the pups
I'm glad you were able to frog back successfully, but that cake is STUNNING. What a talented woman!
And clearly, beauty is another common trait your grand-girls share. That is a very sweet photo, but so are the ones of the pups.
