The Things We Do

Birthday flowers from granddaughter Samantha.

I’ve been told that I am a little “off the chain” when it comes to my dogs.  The pups live like humans in our house—eating home cooked food, napping on the best afghans and sleeping in the big bed which they kindly share with husband and me.

When I told a friend that the little darlings were still having some allergy problems she said to me, “It’s probably those dog biscuits you give them.  Most of those things are made in China.  She was right!

These are my first attempt at home cooked pup cookies.  The bones are simply brown rice flour, eggs, pumpkin and oregano (they love oregano).  The round cookies are ground oats and flax seeds with pumpkin and a touch of peanut butter.  Oh yes, they are well fed!

I am ashamed to say that I sometimes complain about the things I am called to do in any given day.   A few days ago, as I was cooking dog food and biscuits, I mentioned to Bill that one more thing on my list and I would crash and burn.  Ten minutes later number one son called to ask if I will knit a blanket for his new nephew due in October.  Of course I said yes—no problem.  When the loud laughing started on my end, the conversation went like this:

Son:  “Who is laughing?”
Me:  “Your dad.”
Son:  “Why?”
Me:  “Because I just told him that one more thing on my list would be too much”

Did my son tell me to slow down and rest?  Did he ask if I am over committed?  Did he suggest not worrying about the blanket?  Nope!  He started laughing too.  Do my children know me or what?

Life is good.

BTW:  This is Bricklayer’s Baby Blanket, which I charted to make the lace pattern a little easier to follow.

Is it the Gretchen Tracy pattern I just looked up on Rav? I think Al made one in pink. It is darling.
Happy Happy again

You deserve a great year.
Perhaps your LIST of things to do could be in categories: MANANA MANANA or Mañana

I'm trying to leave one thing Un done a day. I get too caught up in crossing them all off and it really isn't necessary

Haha! This was a funny post! The flowers are beautiful happy birthday! You're such a fun one.

I would be a lucky girl to be your dog. Dang, that's some good livin'.

I'm glad you figured out the allergy thing, we all suffer from various forms in my household and when it's bad, it's the pits.

Lastly, they all know you too well. Super cute story. I could definitely relate. All the best to you!
