Too Soon Old(er) Too Late Wise(er)

I’ve never had the luxury of having a shower with a seat or bench in it.  After his surgery DH felt the need for a little more stability in the shower so I bought a four-legged stool made for that purpose.  I told him it was a great idea for him, but that I would never use it. Au contraire!!

For years I have dreaded giving the dogs a bath because the only logical place to do it was the bathtub and having to be on my knees beside the tub or standing bent over it was a pain.  Literally!  So, yesterday I bathed two dogs by getting into the bathtub with each one and sitting on the stool to soap and rinse them.  Yes, I got wet.  (No I wasn’t dressed).  When I finished with their baths and DH was busy drying them, I took my own shower and now I’m wondering why it took me so long to get wise to the fine art of dog washing.

Two wet doggies

I thought I knew everything there was to know about frying chicken, but then it happened—the great frying catastrophe.  Yesterday I carefully placed three pieces of beautifully breaded and seasoned chicken into a frying pan of golden oil, and was gratified to see just the right amount of bubbling and sizzling when POP, hot grease flew out of the pan and onto my right wrist.  I didn’t think much of it at first.  When I had placed the last piece of chicken into the pan I casually walked to the sink and ran cold water over my wrist for at least 10 minutes while DH finished the frying.  After the chicken frying was done we discovered that I had second degree burns over a three inch area of my wrist.

Do you know how hard it is to knit with a gauze wrapped arm?   I am now wiser about hot grease!

I am in love with Lion Brands Spring Ruana!  I saw it in a line-up of new and reintroduced patterns and had to make one.  I happened to have enough green and black variegated superwash sock yarn to make it so by the time the AC starts freezing me out of the office I hope to have a new wrap.  Still working on DIL's vest and sock two of the yellow and white anklets.  Moving along in pain but at times we all suffer for our art!
Life is good.

Grease burns are the worst. I hope yours heals quickly.

Nothing better than finding something that works great when you didn't expect it. Clean dogs, no pain, and a shower to boot - what could be better!

Take care of yourself.

Well, since you told your dog bathing story... The Knight is a bather. Mugsy, our first JRT, would approach the tub, stick his neck out (as in... remove my collar!), and if the Knight did remove the collar, Mugsy would hop right on over in the tub for some scrubby-dub-dub...

I hope your burn heals quickly and completely.
