It was grand. First I have to tell you about Judy’s
wonderful swap package. I should have
posted about it last week but I grabbed the beautiful dishcloths and put them
to use immediately. Hard to take
pictures of them when one is washing dishes and the other is under a hot pan of
BBQ beef.
Judy also sent a beautiful
skein of Peaches ‘n Cream cotton yarn and the pattern for the diagonal cloth, and I’ve already started it.
Thank you Judy. I’m so happy to
have met you and to have found your great blog.
Also, thank you Kathy for the great swap! I’ve heard others echo my feelings that it
was one of the best yet!
Then…dear son #2 graduated with his
Master’s degree in Nursing and the family gathered at chez comfort zone to celebrate. We don’t meet here often because we live in a
small cottage style house, but we find that when we all gather here there is a warm feeling of family. Everyone draws
close and the laughter and conversations all run together. It’s stimulating and crazy fun!!
The menu was well
received: pulled BBQ beef with fresh coleslaw on a bun, fresh homemade chicken
salad, big green salad with trimmings (cherry tomatoes, grated carrots, green
onions, grated Mexican cheese) and salted caramel and cashew cookies for dessert. All prepared in the cottage kitchen. I’m tired but so happy!
The back of summer
stash sweater is more than half finished—17 inches along.
I am NOT a monogamous knitter so I always seem to find another project
while being dedicated to the current project.
This time is it Arctic Wrap (link to pattern on Ravelry). I haven’t done Fair Isle for a while and this
is a bit of a different wrinkle—three strands at one time.
The yarn kit for the
project is almost $300. Can you believe
it? I have to admit that I don’t usually
do $300 knitting projects. I may have,
one time in my life, but the shock has been long lasting and prohibits further
madness. Because I want to be able to
wash the wrap, I opted for acrylic.
Nice, soft “I Love This Yarn” is always a safe bet so I ordered huge
skeins of off white, light blue and navy.
It’s going to be gorgeous and OH SO cheap.
Even the pups enjoyed
giving wet kisses to family members. I’m
not sure the family enjoyed it as much as Macy and Max did!
Life is good!
