Another One

Another one is off the needles and now on to other things.  I’ll get back to the dishcloths soon.  I already have the cotton and needles out, but I have to return to finishing the back of the summer stash sweater.  Two inches more and the back will be ready to assemble with the fronts so I can pick up stitches for the sleeves.

At the same time I will be knitting a feather and fan shawl with the yarn bought for the Arctic Wrap.  I always read a pattern several times before I knit them and half-way through the third reading of Arctic Wrap I decided that it is not a project I want to commit to for several months.  Oh gosh, golly, gee, I have become an easy-peasy pattern knitter.  At least at this time, I don’t want to spend my life knitting something that requires my total concentration.  So, what could be easier than a navy, light blue and white feather and fan shawl.  We can all probably do feather and fan in our sleep!

We had another one of those fantastic weekends while oldest son, an engineer from Chicago and his wonderful wife were with us.  We don’t get to spend as much time with them as we would like, so it was a busy, busy, busy time as they circulated from house to house and we ran from morning until late evening every day.  Events included a guided tour of Lockheed Martin to watch the F-35 being built (amazing but no pictures allowed!) swimming

                                                                  big family dinners
and the tour of a brewery (interesting but too busy drinking it to photograph it).
Saturday we gathered at 9:00 am to watch nurse son #2 receive his Master’s degree in Austin on closed circuit TV.  By Monday we were all blurry eyed, exhausted and ready to say “uncle”.  We’ve never had so much fun!!

The pups didn’t like staying alone for extended periods of time, but they were forgiving as long as they both got to sleep with us in the bed when we finally came home.  We are getting tired of sleeping around them, but it was a trade-off.

Life is good.

Congrats to nurse son #2 - quite an accomplishment.

The tours, outings, and adventures, sound like they were a lot of fun.

I'm into simple knits now, too. I've never attempted an adult garment, but maybe some day. . .

What pattern did you use on the yellow dishcloth? It looks woven! Family time is exhausting, isn't it? But, oh so special. Sounds like you had a great time with lots of memories!
